Garden Panel Khesti Composition A Four-Colored Persian Garden

A single-piece Chobi Ziegler rug woven with asymmetric Persian knots in workshops of northern Afghanistan, dividing its surface into four-colored garden panels (khesti). The Story of This Rug

The garden panel (khesti / garden design) is the most direct depiction of the paradise garden in Persian rug weaving since the Safavid era: the rug surface is divided into square sections, each depicting a separate flower bed. Among the Bahtiyari nomads, this design continues under the name "khesti" (brick). Afghan masters recreate this heritage in the Chobi natural palette; the wool is dyed with plant extracts and patinated through washing.

Why a Single-Piece Handwoven Afghan Rug

  1. Uniqueness: One of a kind.
  2. Durability of natural dyes: Does not fade.
  3. Ghazni wool: Silky shine.
  4. Asymmetric Persian knot: Sharp detail.
  5. Investment value: Appreciates over time.

Color and Pattern

The rug surface is divided into four large panels: top left is a turquoise background garden, top right a golden yellow flower row, bottom left a root red palmette bouquet, and bottom right a second panel with a golden background. Within each panel, Shah Abbas palmettes, lotus buds, cypresses, and tiny boteh motifs create independent gardens. Wide pomegranate red outer borders frame panels of ivory background palmette and rosette friezes; the inner border is a thin turquoise stripe.

Care Recommendations

  • Vacuum without brush on low speed.
  • Blot stains with a white cloth.
  • Rotate every 6 months.
  • For wet cleaning, consult a rug specialist.

With its four-colored composition of garden panels, this rug brings four different seasons into the room at once.

Protect Elegance
A delicate care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of handwoven and natural fiber Carpetdocia pieces that add value to your living space for generations.

Immediate Action and Liquid Contact
Timing is the most critical factor in case of possible liquid spills. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to gently blot the liquid from the surface without rubbing. Always perform this action in the direction of the carpet’s nap (the natural lay of the fibers). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers like TENCEL™ and viscose. Stop the intervention immediately if you have any doubts.

Routine Care and Light Balance
Always prefer vacuum cleaners with low suction power in your weekly cleaning routine. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the reaction of natural fibers to light and prevent regional tone differences (fading), we recommend rotating your carpet every 2 to 6 months.

Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble textures such as handwoven, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the carpet’s silky shine and structural integrity. For deep cleansing, seek support only from professional carpet care centers specialized in natural fibers.

Washing Instructions
Delicate pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their structure. (Only specific models clearly labeled "Washable" in their name can be washed in household machines on a low heat and delicate cycle.)
