The Göbeklitepe Collection features high-quality wool rugs inspired by Anatolia’s enduring motifs and made entirely by hand. Woven on a black loom using 100% New Zealand wool, this special rug stands out for its durability and authentic appearance. Its 8 mm pile offers a soft, comfortable surface, while the fringed edges add an elegant detail. With a knot density of 168,000 and a weight of 2850 g/m², it is a sturdy, long-lasting weave. This variation has a distressed (vintage) look, with a red medallion and Anatolian motifs on a petrol-navy background.
What Is New Zealand Wool?
New Zealand wool is considered among the world’s finest wool thanks to its natural whiteness, softness, and long fibers. Its long, resilient fibers help the rug retain its shape and fullness even with heavy use, while the natural wool fibers regulate moisture and bring a warm, healthy feel to your space. The Göbeklitepe Collection is handwoven on a black loom using Wools of New Zealand-certified wool. For more information about our certifications, visit our sustainability and certifications page.
Inspiration for the Göbeklitepe Collection: Anatolian Heritage
Göbeklitepe is an enduring part of Anatolia’s cultural heritage. Located in Şanlıurfa, it dates back approximately 12,000 years and is one of the oldest known temple sites in human history. The Göbeklitepe Collection draws inspiration from this ancient heritage and the rich motifs of the Anatolian rug-making tradition. Medallions, borders, and traditional geometric patterns come together in a modern interpretation, bringing an authentic spirit to your living spaces. Each color reflects a different pattern from the Anatolian weaving tradition, with its own distinctive character.

Göbeklitepe Collection rugs made from 100% New Zealand wool should only be washed by professional rug-cleaning companies. Due to the natural properties of wool, washing at home or cleaning with plenty of water is not recommended. This helps preserve the rug’s patterns, colors, and texture over time.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
